Directions:
This is a beautiful, tranquil neighborhood with spacious homes, located on the north end of Poway, east of Rancho Bernardo, most easily accessed off of the I-15 Freeway at the Rancho Bernardo Rd. exit. Go east on Rancho Bernardo Rd. past Pomerado Rd. Rancho Bernardo Rd. will turn into Espola Rd. Take a right at Valle Verde Rd. (there's a stoplight) and follow it around, bearing left onto Calle Colina. Proceed to Maverick Ln. and take a left. Maverick Ct. is about 100 yards ahead on the right. Martha's house is at the end of the cul-de-sac and there will be a table in the driveway, hopefully staffed with volunteers.
Tickets:
With Reservation: $15.00 Without Reservation: $20.00 With or without a reservation, tickets may only be purchased with CASH, at the door, unless you specifically make other arrangements with the event organizers (Charlie Imes or Martha Sullivan) prior to the event.
Parking:
Please do not park in the driveway of the residence. Even though it is somewhat large, the driveway will be reserved for the band and event staff. There is ample street parking on Maverick Ct. and Maverick Lane. If you wish to pull up to the driveway to drop off your seats/coolers/dish to share/whatever, that is fine. We ask that you drop it off with one of our volunteers if they're handy, and then go park your car. Common sense would dictate that you not block anyone's driveway, and we ask that you be extra considerate of the neighbors property. Please make sure that you don't encroach on their driveway entrances when you park and exercise an abundance of common courtesy.
Pre-show "Beggar's Banquet" Pot-Luck Dinner:
This is a great opportunity to relax, talk to friends, meet new people and enjoy the tranquil tropical setting in Martha's spacious backyard. People are encouraged to bring a dish to share, but it is not required. If you would like to participate in bringing a dish, please let us know what you have in mind when you make your reservations. It can be a main course item (lasagna, pizza, chicken, etc.), side dish (potato salad, green salad, veggie dish, etc.) or appetizer/snack (chips, dips, fresh cut veggies, etc.). Letting us know what you have in mind will help to balance things a bit if we wind up with 10 people bringing potato salad (or whatever) and we'll let you know if there is an over-abundance of your particular food item to see if you might be ammenable to sharing a different dish instead.
Drinks/Libations/Thirst Quenchers:
There will be some soft drinks, water, beer and wine provided, and people are welcomed to bring coolers with their personal beverage of choice or some wine, beer or soft drinks to share if you choose. Again, this is not required, just allowed. We do ask that people who choose to enjoy adult beverages at the show do so responsibly.
Seating:
We will have seats available at the show, or people are welcomed to bring their own beach chairs, camping chairs, bean bags or whatever they're comfortable in. Our metal folding/plastic deck or whatever other kinds of chairs we come up with may not be quite as comfy as any handy-dandy traveller that you might have, and we don't mind if you come prepared to be as comfortable as you want to be. Please indicate in your reservation e-mail if you would like us to provide seating for you. People who wish to spread a blanket on the lawn are also allowed to do so. We can provide chairs or blankets, (it's no problem, really) but would appreciate it if you could give us an idea ahead of time so that we can make sure that we have enough available, and a few extras for emergencies. "While we expect a very pleasant evening, weather-wise, we remind you that's it's usually a good idea and strongly suggest that you bring a jacket or blanket or something to keep you warm should the evening air turn cooler than expected."
Merchandise:
Berkley Hart will have a merchandise table at the event, where they will be selling copies of some of their CD's. We cannot guarantee that all titles will be available in sufficient quantities, so it's first come, first served on availability. Each of their CD's have won either 1 or 2 San Diego Music Awards and are unique from each other in their general sound and approach. All 4 of them are extremely enjoyable and I couldn't recommend them highly enough. Berkley Hart would prefer cash for any and all purchases, and they may or may not take checks. We can't speak for them.
Courtesy:
Our goal is to make this a remarkable and memorable evening. We ask that during the performance, patrons wait until between songs to get up and go back to the bathroom or refreshment areas, and to keep their voices down so as not to disturb the show. Similarly, we ask that you wait between songs to return to your seat. Please remember that this is a concert, not a party.
To preserve an enjoyable evening for all, we reserve the right to refuse admission to any individual or tactfully "invite them to leave" should they become unreasonably disruptive for any reason, drunk or sober. We truly don't anticipate this happening with this crowd, but ya never know...
More about Berkley Hart: [2]
Call them Americana, call their music folk, folk-rock, bluesy, alternative, rootsy... whatever. We call it great. Critically acclaimed and veterans of both the San Diego music scene and the road, Berkley Hart's favorite shows are these intimate house concerts. It allows them to really connect with the audience and give a show that is often funny, occassionally sentimental, usually thought-provoking and sometimes even foot-stomping, hand-clapping fun.
At DemocracyFest, one of the other acts participating in the Open Air Theater show at SDSU was the incredible Laurence Juber [3] , a guitar virtuoso who was formerly a member of Paul McCartney's Wings. Laurence has played not only with "Beatle Paul", but also with George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Pete Townsend and a host of other music legends. During Berkley Hart's set at DemocracyFest, Laurence was standing offstage, playing his guitar along with the Berkley Hart songs, when he turned to Charlie Imes (the show's producer and co-organizer for this house concert) and remarked, "These guys are the real deal. They are very good. Good enough to be onstage anywhere I've played." Pretty high praise from someone who knows talent.

I hope you'll take this opportunity to invite some friends to join you and help us say goodbye to Martha's Poway house in fine style... with a private Berkley Hart House Concert.
